Polly Beak – Nasal Malformations San Francisco

The polly beak nasal malformation gives the nose a parrot-beak-like appearance. It is sometimes created by mistakes made during a primary rhinoplasty. As a solution, we can perform secondary rhinoplasty to resolve this issue, recontouring the proportions of the nose.

Rhinoplasty sometimes involves lifting the skin of the nose for access to the underlying tissues. Afterwards, the surgeon redrapes it over the nose’s new contours. When it isn’t draped closely enough to the contours, open regions are left, and these form scar tissue, altering the nose’s appearance. A soft-tissue polly beak is caused by this scar tissue.
